Go Fish!
On Sat. May 28th, some fishing enthusiasts from Hope Church headed down to Point Pleasant Beach, NJ to try our luck at deep sea fluke fishing. It had rained the entire week prior to Sat. but the sun came out in all its glory to make it a beautiful day. With great anticipation and excitement we dropped our lines hoping to hook the "big one"! Well, it turned out that it would have been nice to hook any thing. In the beginning we weren't having much luck and the excitement waxed and waned as we moved from one location to another. I believe Ellsa hooked the first fluke (see photo) out of the Hope bunch. Too small though it had to be thrown back. No one was able to catch a keeper (fish had to be minimum 16 1/2 inches). We were feeling a bit dissapointed at how the fishing was going with an hour left to fish. But then it happened! A tug here, a tug there, a tug everywhere. Everyone had something hooked on their line. But to our surprise not fluke but shark! No, not the one that bit the leg of the surfer this past week. Smaller. Sand sharks. We had them fillet and Larry grilled them for his small group. Brian Wags said it tasted like lobster but he doesn't like lobster. What a pity. All in all it was a great time to just get out and enjoy God's creation.
